TURKEY • TRAVELBOOK — LET’S EXPLORE!

Turkey is also a bridge between continents, a melting pot of civilizations and Asia's foothold in Europe. It's Western-oriented, with plenty of sightseeings — explore the Marmara Sea and blend into the Asian side of Turkeyat which you are able to buy souvenirs like hand-made sweaters and woven rugs in one of the numerous bazaars.

Hagia Sophia — Built-in 532, the Hagia Sophia stands as a museum that is thought to be the ultimate embodiment of Byzantine architecture, started as an Orthodox Basilica and later it was transformed to a Mosque. Turkish cuisine is exciting and ever-evolving, the coastline is a dream come true, and many Turkish cities are dotted with spectacular mosques and castles.

You will love to Travel to Turkey because…

Istanbul is the only transcontinental town in the world located on two continents, Europe and Asia. In its tens of thousands of years of history, it's been the capital of three great empires - Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman. No matter how the modern day capital of Turkey is Ankara.

Istanbul is home to the most Mosques in Turkey. It has 3,113 mosques, including the historical Sultanahmet Mosque and the Süleymaniye Mosque.

Turkey has the 3rd oldest subway in the world at 573 meters long in Istanbul. It was built in 1875 after the ones in London and in New York in 1863 and 1868, respectively.

In Turkey, you will find 13 places inscribed on UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites, and a whopping 62 about the tentative list. They vary from a Mesolithic temple (Göbekli Tepe) into a Biblical city (Ephesus) into a World War One battlefield (Gallipoli), and make Turkey the sixth most-visited tourist destination in the world. The turtles arrive between October and May, climbing ashore at the site of the birth to lay a fresh generation of eggs. The beach sees about 300 nests dug annually, and government regulations have succeeded in tourism with the requirement to safeguard and preserve this precious resource. Just down the shore, Patara is the longest beach in the Mediterranean (12 miles of pristine white sand dunes).

Visit the world’s oldest malls — Istanbul's Grand Bazaar, or Kapalı Çarşı, dates to 1455 and was launched soon after the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople. Through the centuries it has become a warren of 61 streets lined by over 3,000 stores and now occupies a nearly incomprehensible 333,000 square feet. You'll never possibly be able to explore all of it, but it doesn't keep people from trying — according to Travel + Leisure, the Grand Bazaar has been the world's #1 attraction in 2014, drawing over 91 million people.
